Fulani Hat

Traditional hat from West Africa

A Fulani Hat is a conical fibre hat with leather applications that comes from the Fulani people in West Africa. It is typically worn by the Wodaabe, a nomadic cattle-herder subgroup of the Fulani. This hat is often worn above a turban.

A Fulani Hat is typically a basketry hat made of plant fibres. The brim and the top are usually covered in leather, sometimes with decorative leather elements in the middle. A leather-covered knob can be found at the crown of the hat. A chinstrap with a tassel at the end is frequently found at the hat’s base.

In Kendrick’s 2018 music video for All the Stars, dancers were seen wearing Fulani hats.
